KCON Hosting Special League of Legends Champions Festival This August

KCON has announced a special League of Legends Champions Festival at the event taking place from August 9-10, 2014. Interested participants will be able to check out the event at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena and tickets are currently on sale for the League of Legends Champions Festival. Read on.

, the largest annual fan celebration of Korean entertainment and culture, will host a special “Ongamenet League of Legends Champions Festival - Special Greet & Match” at this year’s convention. KCON 2014 takes place on August 9 and 10 at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena.


League of Legends fans will be able to participate in one of four Q&A sessions and special 5 vs. 5 friendly matches against Korean League of Legends pro gamers. Fans that purchase official merchandise will be able to get autographs and participate in photo sessions with Korean League of Legends pro gamers.

CJ E&M’s Ongamenet, a South Korean cable channel specializing in the broadcast of E-sport matches, will be bringing former League of Legends professional gamer and current coach of Team Solo Mid (TSM), 'Locodoco’, as the MC/Commentator for this special event. Specific stars of Korean League of Legends professional gaming teams coming to KCON 2014 will be announced in the coming weeks.

League of Legends is one of the most popular video games in the world. Over 67 million people play League of Legends per month, 27 million per day, and over 7.5 million concurrently during peak hours.

“E-Sport is an important part of the Hallyu wave,” said Mark Shaw, CEO of CJ E&M. “That is why teaming up with ‘League of Legends’ to bring this special event to KCON is a no-brainer.”

Each day will consist of two sessions running from 11:00AM – 1:30PM and 3:30PM - 6PM.

Tickets for the “Ongamenet League of ‘Legends Champions Festival - Special Greet & Match” at KCON 2014 will go on sale July 21st, 10:00AM.
