Coldwater is an upcoming movie from Flying Pig Productions and Breaking Glass Pictures. The film stars James C Burns (read interview here) and P.J. Boudousqué in one of the most surprisingly dramatic and touching movies to release this year. Movie fans will be able to watch the new release on August 15, 2014 in select theaters, Video On Demand and iTunes.
P.J. Boudousqué portrays the character Brad Lunders, a young adolescent on a path of pure destruction, who spends his days dealing drugs and causing chaos to all those around him. Brad's life is in turmoil, as problems at home erupt, and violence encompasses his troubled life. It takes a truly violent action to send Brad's parents over the edge and they send him to Coldwater.
The remote boot camp is located in the wilderness with nothing around for miles. Coldwater is run by Colonel Frank Reichert (James C. Burns) in one of his best performances yet as the hardened, relentless leader trying to reshape these young delinquents into proper members of society. However, the events at Coldwater soon turn from helping better these young people's lives to plain torment and torture. It isn't until Brad decides to stand up against the mighty forces and battles for what is right and wrong that the movie takes a pivotal turn.
Coldwater features a well-written storyline and great acting with the film truly shining from P.J. Boudousqué and James C. Burns performances. P.J. Boudousqué truly reminds you of a young Ryan Gosling, not only in his looks, but his great acting potential and the ability to pull the viewer in with his performance. James C. Burns performs supberly as the Colonel and delivers a level of fierceness and sexiness to the character Frank Reichert that makes it hard for you to dislike him even if he is the bad guy in a way.
The emotional story and the evolution of the characters in Coldwater are really magnificent as it manages to entertain and intrigue the viewer for the entire length of the film. One of the things I enjoyed most about the movie was that it represented the real-life struggles that we all battle with to become the person we are today. It is the hardships in life and the way that we choose to deal with them that define the person we become even though there may be moments that aren't always just and fair. Coldwater eventually breaks everyone down and even Brad eventually submits to the system. It isn't until he gets a chance to get revenge and right past wrongs that Brad's anger truly resurfaces to the surface for a climatic ending.
In the end, Coldwater is an incredible film that has little to dislike, and has to be one of the better movies that we have seen all year! If you want to watch some amazing indie performances for several rising stars alongside a great story then look no further then Coldwater!
