HBO Receives 19 Primetime Emmy Awards For Game of Thrones, True Dectective and More

HBO received 19 Primetime Emmy Awards, the most of any network for the 13th year in a row, in the 66th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards competition. “True Detective” led HBO programming with 5 Emmys.


HBO’s Emmy® wins this year include:

  • 5 Emmys® for “True Detective,” including Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series (Cary Joji Fukunaga); Outstanding Casting for a Drama Series; Outstanding Cinematography for a Single-Camera Series; Outstanding Main Title Design; and Outstanding Makeup for a Single-Camera Series (Non-Prosthetic).
  • 4 Emmys® for “Game of Thrones,” including Outstanding Art Direction for a Contemporary or Fantasy Series (Single-Camera); Outstanding Costumes for a Series; Outstanding Prosthetic Makeup for a Series, Miniseries, Movie or a Special; and Outstanding Special and Visual Effects.
  • 2 Emmys® for “The Normal Heart,” including Outstanding Television Movie and Outstanding Makeup for a Miniseries or a Movie (Non-Prosthetic).
  • 1 Emmy® for “Boardwalk Empire”: Outstanding Art Direction for a Period Series, Miniseries or a Movie (Single-Camera).
  • 1 Emmy® for “Life According to Sam”: Exceptional Merit in Documentary Filmmaking.
