Couch Fest Films has announced that they are now accepting film submissions fees via Bitcoin. Read on.
From the Press Release
Couch Fest Films is now accepting film submissions fees via Bitcoin! The worldwide film festival, based in Seattle, WA, has become the first fest to use the online currency as a payment option in this way.
Ranked by MovieMaker Magazine as "one of the top 5 coolest film fests," Couch Fest is the largest single-day shorts film festival in the world.
Since 2008 Couch Fest has presented an annual shorts film event hosted in people's houses and alternative locations all over the world, all on one day. Similar to a pub crawl--but for movie watching--festivalgoers travel from venue to venue watching a program of short films. Past host locations include Reykjavik, Brooklyn, Lima, and many other international cities.
Festival founder and director Craig Downing was excited to welcome Bitcoin as a payment option. "Couch Fest exists because of new technology. We wouldn't be able to program a worldwide, same-day film festival without tools like Wufoo, Google Drive, Wunderlist and now Bitcoin," says Downing. "I see Bitcoin as just the next chapter in e-commerce for us. Couch Fest has always welcomed the new, interesting, and offbeat. Plus, you'll no longer need to worry about the government tracking which film festivals you apply to!"
Couch Fest is accepting submissions until September 7. Submission fees can also be paid via Submittable and Film Freeway.
