The Wolf Among Us: Episode 5 - Cry Wolf (Video Game Review)

The Wolf Among Us: Episode 5 - Cry Wolf wraps up the exciting first season of The Wolf Among Us series from developer and publisher Telltale Games. The finale offers gamers closure for many of the characters they've grown attached to over the game's previous four episodes, while providing plenty of action to keep players interested in the last chapter until the credits roll. The storyline featured in The Wolf Among Us: Episode 5 - Cry Wolf is arguably more entertaining than the fifth episode of The Walking Dead's first season, and the new release could be the best storyline Telltale Games has written yet.

The Wolf Among Us: Episode 5 - Cry Wolf picks up with Bigby facing off with the Crooked Man and his gang of nightmarish Fables. The decisions for players begin soon after starting the final chapter, as players must choose which enemy to deal with first. As fights progress, more is revealed about the different characters that will force players to remember the choices they've already made in previous episodes, and some will question the decisions they've made. The Fables comic series features some of the most interesting characters in fiction, and those characters are well represented in The Wolf Among Us: Episode 5 - Cry Wolf.

One of the best features about The Wolf Among Us: Episode 5 - Cry Wolf is the consequential decisions players will be forced to make during the finale. Several characters can live or die based on the choices players make along the way. The new chapter includes multiple endings that encourages replayability, and players will want to share the story of what happened to their version of Bigby with friends as soon as the game has been completed. It's this fantastic design choice that makes The Wolf Among Us: Episode 5 - Cry Wolf such an interesting game while also making the entire journey through the five-episode season worth the time spent to complete the game.

The Wolf Among Us raised the bar on action and combat in Telltale Games series. The Wolf Among Us: Episode 5 - Cry Wolf provides the most exciting combat for the series to date with plenty of fights that will challenge players to both be aware of their surrounding and use the correct buttons prompts to progress through various quick time events unscathed. In addition to being action packed, The Wolf Among Us: Episode 5 - Cry Wolf features some very unique enemy characters that Bigby must face off with over the duration of the episode. Some of these battles are easily among the best encounters during the whole series, so fans definitely won't be bored while playing through The Wolf Among Us: Episode 5 - Cry Wolf.

The one thing that The Wolf Among Us: Episode 5 - Cry Wolf doesn't fix in its new release is graphical glitches, frame rate drops and similar issues that game has struggled with since the first episode. While the game series features some of the best designed character models in the entire industry with a colorful display that looks like comics come to life, frequent dips in quality are still something that gives a minor distraction away from the great storytelling and fun gameplay. Bigby is one of the best new characters in gaming thanks in part to amazing voice acting from Adam Harrington, and the rest of the cast is nearly as impressive as well.

The Wolf Among Us: Episode 5 - Cry Wolf has plenty of influences from different genres of writing and various forms of media, but this storyline is truly its own. Fans will enjoy the exciting ending for the series that leaves enough questions to make another season completely viable for the series, but there are enough loose ends tied up so that fans will love the finale either way. The amazing narrative couples with plenty of exciting action to make the fifth episode one not to miss for fans of Telltale Games.
