Light in the Dark (Video Game Review)

Dreamgate Studios has announced the release of Light in the Dark for iOS, Android and Windows Phone devices for $1.99. Players will venture into a world of color & light bending with over 60 puzzles were they must block, bounce and blend the light. Read on to learn more.

Light in the Dark starts out in Egypt were you will unlock various tombs as you progress through the game. The bright, colorful visuals and fun soundtrack will draw you in immediately upon playing your first level with its ridiculously cute cast of characters. The gameplay mechanics for Light in the Dark are fairly simple with the player holding and dragging the light to the end of the path to save the baby. The offspring of peculiar light beings have lost their way through some very dark corridors, and it is up to you to shine a light on the path ahead and save them! Based on your performance, you will gain stars after completing each level which helps unlock even more levels to play. As you progress, gameplay will become more challenging and puzzles get a little bit harder each time, which means you may need to use the game's hints section. However, hints will cost you after your free ones expire, so you must use them strategically.  Alternatively, having to purchase hints is probably the only downfall of Light in the Dark.

Light in the Dark manages to keep gameplay fresh and entertaining by utilizing various puzzle mechanics throughout your adventures. For example, the player may be tasks with figuring out how to match the lights' color to the babies' color in one round and something completely different like color mixing in the next. The diversity between levels helps to keep the game from becoming overly repetitive and boring while adding a high degree of replayability at the same time.

The game focuses mainly on its addictive gameplay which is perfect for passing the time on your iPad. While you can play the title on your iPhone or iPad, I found that everything was much easier and enjoyable on the iPad's larger screen. Playing Light in the Dark on a larger screen allows the player to truly take in everything that the title has to offer and helps you appreciate the visuals, fun animations and complex gameplay a little more.

All-in-all, Light in the Dark is incredibly fun to play and will keep you entertained for hours on end. Light in the Dark offers up an creatively unique experience that manages to be just as challenging as it is fun. If you have been looking for that next addictive puzzler for long car rides and breaks in between homework or work then look no further then Light in the Dark.
