From the Press Release
Worldwide video game publisher, Little Orbit, announced today that it has acquired video game developer Vicious Cycle Software. A developer of quality licensed titles including Ben 10 Omniverse and Alien Force, Madagascar 3: The Video Game, and Flushed Away, alongside unique titles including Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon, Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard and Dead Head Fred. The acquisition will allow Little Orbit to support an ever-growing internal development team to accommodate its growing portfolio.

“When we heard that there was the possibility to bring the talented development team at Vicious Cycle to Little Orbit, we were excited since our development initiatives match each other so closely,” said Matt Scott, CEO of Little Orbit. “Little Orbit is focused on licensed titles, which is a strength of Vicious Cycle and the potential within the Vicious Engine will allow us to deliver quality games across numerous platforms simultaneously.”

With decades of combined development experience and a proven track record, the skilled team of artists, programmers, and designers at Vicious Cycle have been involved in the development of many great products throughout the years. Today, Vicious Cycle is a premier developer of interactive entertainment software for multiple platforms. Vicious Cycle is also the developer of the Vicious Engine, a comprehensive and fully portable middleware solution for consoles, handhelds, and the PC.

The team at Vicious Cycle has already started development on two unannounced 2015 titles for Little Orbit. In addition, Little Orbit will begin using the Vicious Engine across the rest of the company and potentially its third party developers in order to create a consistent development platform for all of its releases. In addition to the platforms the Vicious Engine has supported in the past, the latest consoles and mobile platforms are in development for the engine.

“It only makes sense for two companies focused on bringing high quality licensed titles to gamers to become partners,” said Eric Peterson, President and CEO of Vicious Cycle. “We’re looking forward to the possibilities that the injection of energy, excitement and experience of our collaboration has to offer.”

The acquisition occurred in Spring of 2014 and the development team will continue to reside in North Carolina.
