The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 Now Available On Steam Early Access

KING Art and Nordic Games have announced that players can now play the Early Access version of The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 on Steam. Read on.

The eagerly anticipated sequel to the successful adventure game, The Book of Unwritten Tales, gets its first publicly playable version! On September 4th, KING Art and Nordic Games released the Early Access version of The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 on Steam.

At a price point of EUR 29.99/USD 29.99/GBP 24.99, the full game including all future updates can be purchased. The entire first chapter is ready to play and awaits players to delve into the world of Aventásia. Collect the first clues about the despicable epidemic that is slowly but surely infesting the land. Why despicable you ask? This epidemic is pink, fluffy, and threatens to shake the foundations of fantasy worlds as one cherishes it. Who wants gentle, inoffensive trolls without any social disorder, anyway.

Thanks to its projection mapping technology, the world of The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 looks enchanting in any colour, but pink is far far away from being the new black. Fortunately, there’s a wonderful reunion for our heroes from the first part, Wilbur, Nate, Princess Ivo and the Critter, who are ready to take it up with this shimmering menace.

“The first chapter in our early access version is around 95% complete”, said Jan Theysen, creative director at KING Art. “A couple of parts are missing, like for example the orchestral soundtrack, as all the recordings will take place at once, and some of the additional, optional side quests that BoUT 2 will introduce to the classic point & click adventure. Feedback from the community is especially important to us at this stage” Theysen continues.

The Early Access version will be released for PC, MAC and Linux. However, a lot more hard work is yet to go into the adventure and the Early Access is an invitation to fans and interested parties to participate in the development process of the game.

Needless to say, all backers (with a backing of at least USD 25) of the Kickstarter campaign will receive the Early Access to The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 for free. The plan is to release the upcoming chapter of the game at intervals of 4-6 weeks, until the final version of the crazy adventure will be available in off- and online stores in January 2015. There will also be DRM-free versions available (boxed and digital). The five chapters of the game will have a total playing time of over 20 hours, making The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 one of the largest adventures ever.
