Jagged Alliance: Flashback (Video Game Preview)

Jagged Alliance: Flashback is an upcoming release from Full Control that is currently available to play exclusively on Steam Early Access. The game had a successful Kickstarter during Spring 2013, and a full release is expected to arrive for fans of the series beginning on October 21, 2014. The game will support a full-fledged single player experience set during the Cold Wars of the 1980s. The title may be named Flashback, but the game will include all new content and features for the series including all new types of mercenaries, new locations, improved user interface and a complete narrative that fans of the series have been clamoring for in recent releases.

The story of Jagged Alliance: Flashback centers around the Cold War of the 1980s with players taking control of a United States mercenary unit sent into the Caribbean islands known as San Christobal in order to remove a U.S.S.R. military presence. The game takes place before other releases in the Jagged Alliance series and allows players to explore the origins of the formation of the group known as A.I.M. Longtime fans of the series will be pleased with the new release, and the focus on the game's single player campaign has allowed Full Control to craft the best storyline seen in the franchise thus far.

Combat in Jagged Alliance: Flashback is similar to that seen throughout the series with a heavy emphasis on strategic, turn based scenarios. Players will need to manage resources and invest in emerging technologies all while protecting their bases from outsiders with any remaining items. Mercenaries will be sent into combat to stop threats before they reach the player's bases. There are new mercenaries included in the game, and players can fully customize their teams in order to craft a unit that suits the player's fighting style. Mercenaries also have some new moves and abilities in the game including abilities to take cover from incoming fire, level up and gain new skills when victorious in combat and more.

Jagged Alliance: Flashback is currently packed with plenty of sectors to explore with tons of enemies to battle and quests to complete in order to earn even more rewards. The most recent update to the game added 16 new sectors and 13 new mercenaries alone, and with the launch of the full game right around the corner, players can look forward to even more content to be added to the game. The game itself looks about the same as Jagged Alliance 2 and Jagged Alliance Online with only a few slight improvements. The user interface is now more player friendly however, and managing troops and bases is now easier with improved controls and better camera control.

Jagged Alliance: Flashback will be a great single player experience for fans of the Jagged Alliance series. The game is heavily focuses on a campaign narrative, and the game easily has the best seen in the franchise so far. The game already holds plenty of new sectors, mercenaries, weapons and other items to explore and use in the early access version of the game, and the full release is sure to offer even more excitement. Look for the full release of Jagged Alliance: Flashback in late October.

Jagged Alliance: Flashback is now available exclusively on Steam Early Access and can be purchased for $39.99. For more information on the game, check out the official Jagged Alliance: Flashback website.
