The Electronic Game Show has announced that it has received over 40,000 attendees during its 13th edition which shows an improvement in the Mexican market. The Electronic Game Show (EGS) today announced record-breaking attendance of 40,000 for its 13th edition, further establishing Mexico as a major video game market in Latin America.
"With the 40,000 attendance mark being surpassed for the first time in EGS history, this is a clear sign of the momentum of the Mexican market," said Alejandro Bertoldi, EGS Manager.
Companies and brands that attended included: Microsoft Xbox®, Sony Playstation®, Electronic Arts, Ubisoft, Activision Blizzard, Disney, Warner Bros. and Bandai Namco. These companies exhibited at large booths and made major announcements during the weekend of Oct. 3-5 at Centro Banamex, one of the most renowned venues in Mexico City.
Among the titles shown at EGS were: Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Sunset Overdrive, The Order: 1886, Little Big Planet 3, Driveclub, Batman: Arkham Knight, Battlefield Hardline, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Disney Infinity 2.0 Edition and FarCry 4. Complementing these titles were spokespeople and producers from major studios like Bungie, SCE Japan Studio, Insomniac Games and Ubisoft Montreal, which were part of the keynote conference program.
"The EGS wasn´t only about gameplay and fun, we also promoted the developer community by launching EGS Developers, which brought together Mexican studios, government institutions and product/service companies in a networking and learning environment," said Jorge Lizárraga, CEO of Alazraki Gaming, the event organizing company.
According to articles and economic projections, Mexico is on track to surpass Brazil as the major economy in Latin America.
"We expect that part of the success of our country in the upcoming years will be to have a major impact on local video game sales and by consequence, on the consolidation of the EGS," Bertoldi said.
