Ubisoft released Assassin's Creed Rogue on Xbox 360 and PS3 on November 11th alongside Assassin's Creed Unity. Gamers received two distinctive titles with each taking place in their own unique world. Assassin's Creed Rogue serves as a sequel to Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag and continues the story during the French and Indian War of the 18th century. Read on.
Assassin's Creed Rogue introduces players to Shay Patrick Cormac, a member of the Assassin Brotherhood, who manages to turn his back on the brotherhood after a mission goes terribly wrong. Of course, the members Assassin Brotherhood don't take the action lightly, and decide to kill Shay. Shay takes a vow of vengeance to fight back and take out all the Assassins turning their backs on him and becomes one of the most feared hunters of all time.
The storyline in Assassin's Creed Rogue is one of the darkest to ever appear in the series and will give players a twisted new adventure like never before. Players get to take on the role of the Ultimate Assassin Hunter from the perspective of a Templar while possessing new weapons and skills. Shay will be able to hunt down and kill his enemies by utilizing his powerful air rifle and Eagle Vision. The storyline of Assassin's Creed Rogue slowly unfolds and lets players witness Shay's transformation from an Assassin to a Templar which forever changes the Assassin Brotherhood. However, the story unfolds rather slowly, and gamers might not be aware of all the reasoning behind Shay's actions until many hours into the story.
One of the biggest problems we had with Assassin's Creed Rogue was the strange mixture of content from past games that created a strange mutation that just couldn't stand on its own. Assassin's Creed Rogue does feature many of the same aspects of past games that players loved, however, and ultimately contained some enjoyable gameplay within its vast open world with the ability to explore the North Atlantic Ocean, River Valley and New York City.
Assassin's Creed Rogue contains the stunning visuals and incredible voice acting that the series is known for alongside improved gameplay. Gamers can explore the icy seas in their ship the Morrigan with new enemy tactics, weapons and possibilities. Navigating the North Atlantic is quite the adventure in Assassin's Creed Rogue as you fight off Assassins trying to board your ship while leaving a trail of fire behind you to destroy enemy ships. The possibilities are endless in Assassin's Creed Rogue with tons of hidden locations to find and explore.
In the end, Assassin's Creed Rogue is a great addition to the series but does have a little trouble establishing its own unique voice. Gamers looking for an exciting new adventure battling their way across the open seas will surely enjoy everything that Assassin's Creed Rogue has to offer.
Assassin's Creed Rogue is now available for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Assassin's Creed Rogue is rated M for Mature by the ESRB. For more information on the game, check out the official Assassin's Creed Rogue website.
