Saints Row IV: Re-Elected (Video Game Review)

The HD remaster of popular and classic titles has become very popular over the last couple of years. Fans have demanded that their games be carried over to next-gen consoles in all of its HD beauty and that is exactly what Saints Row IV: Re-Elected from Deep Silver has accomplished.

Saints Row IV features the 3rd Street Saints gang and their Boss who has now become the President of the United States. The game takes place in the legendary town of Steelport, but when an Alien invasion occurs, the Saints and President are contained within a virtual representation of reality that allows the gang to take on brand-new superhuman abilities. The storyline for Saints Row IV was over-the-top and insanely fun and gamers get to revisit that in Re-Elected.

Saints Row IV: Re-Elected not only the original game but all of its DLC which means that if you haven't played the game then this is the perfect opportunity to do so. Saints Row IV: Re-Elected has players once again stopping the Zinyak alien invasion, escaping a virtual prison and ultimately saving the world. The insane sci-fi plot gives gamers the chance to enter one of the most ludicrous plots to date in the Saints Row franchise while getting the opportunity to try out fun new abilities/super powers and crazy new weapons.

The open world of Saints Row IV looks visually outstanding on next-gen consoles with animations being ridiculously crisp and clear. Of course they could have been better, just like anything can always be, but they still looked pretty great despite the occasional flaw with some textures. The new release has done a great job of integrating all of the game's content onto next-gen consoles with quests feeling freshly updated for a new generation of gamers while reserving the qualities that we loved from the original release.

Saints Row IV: Re-Elected/Saints Row: Gat out of Hell allows players to try out an enhanced version of Saints Row IV alongside the Enter the Dominatrix and Gat out of Hell DLC, 15 new gang members, and six superpowers. This also includes new weapons, clothes and vehicles not included in the original release all for the low price tag of $49.99! However, if you want to buy the two separately then you can also do that. If you plan to purchase the two separately then you will be able to get Saints Row IV: Re-Elected for $29.99 and the stand alone expansion Saints Row: Gat out of Hell for $19.99.

In the end, Saints Row IV: Re-Elected is a great game and only enhances the experience on next-gen consoles. Picking up the new HD release for next-gen depends on two factors: your level of addiction to the Saints Row series and how much money you are willing to spend on that addiction. If you have already played the game and don't feel the need to revisit it on next-gen consoles then you may be happy with just picking up the stand alone expansion for $19.99. However, if you haven't played the game and want to have all the DLC from the start then you can't beat the $29.99 price tag for a next-gen game.

Saints Row IV: Re-elected is now available from all major retailers for the MSRP of $29.99 and can be purchased for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Saints Row IV: Re-elected is rated M by the ESRB for Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Partial Nudity, Sexual Content, Strong Language & Use of Drugs.
