Exclusive Interview: Amanda Adrienne Discusses Avenged

It’s the day of the woman again when Amanda Adrienne goes after the men who left her for dead in the critically acclaimed Avenged. After whipping audiences into a frenzy overseas, the movie finally makes its way to U.S shores in March.

BGG After Dark: Talk about girl power! Was it liberating and powerful playing this woman!?

Amanda Adrienne: Getting to play Zoe was a real gift. Michael definitely writes exciting roles for females and doesn't shy away from challenging his actresses emotionally and physically.

BGG After Dark: Is she anything like you?

Amanda Adrienne: There are bits of me that I knew were like Zoe going into the project, and then I feel like she showed me bits of myself that I didn't realize already existed or needed to be expressed. If that makes sense.

BGG After Dark: Was it hard to ‘switch off’ at the end of the day?

Amanda Adrienne: I feel like I lived in a dream state of adrenaline that whole shoot. I mean, the end of the day was many times at sunrise. I would get back to the motel and shower all the remaining blood and dirt off for probably an hour, try and fall asleep, and then wake up at 11am regardless of an evening call time for the next day.

BGG After Dark: How do you keep the mood light on a film set like this?

Amanda Adrienne: That wasn't ever something I was worried about. I was just excited to be working quite honestly.

BGG After Dark: Avenged features a great leading role for a lady, but do you think Hollywood still shies away from making female-driven movies?

Amanda Adrienne: I think more than anything, Hollywood shies away from taking a risk on a story it doesn't see as a guaranteed moneymaker.

BGG After Dark: Is this your ‘big break’ in your eyes?

Amanda Adrienne: I definitely hope people enjoy the movie.
