Warface (Video Game Review)

One of the most common problems of shooters nowadays is that they tend to copy one another and because of that gamers tend to remain with some bland experiences, which is indeed unfortunate. Warface is a game that was created in order to become the ultimate military shooter and even though it does borrow some elements here and there, it’s a solid title with a lot of value.

Gameplay

Right off the bat, there’s no story in this one, there are just two sides who try to beat each other in the best way they can so they might be able to achieve supremacy. This does lead to some very interesting battles in the end, but overall the game is designed in order to provide you with lots of challenges provide by the human players.

The gunplay and sceneries seem taken from CS:GO most of the time, as well as COD, especially the Modern Warfare titles. The guns are pretty much the same like in most modern shooters, which is easy to understand why, as they want to provide a realistic experience. The gunplay is very good, with the weapons functioning properly and you being able to experience a lot of fun as you try to master each weapon. Yes, there are weapon levels which I like a lot, but it’s the constant challenge and fun ideas that make the experience feel exciting since the enemies use new tactics all the time and you have to try and defeat them as you see fit.

What I like here is that the focus is on teamwork rather than anything else, and cooperative gameplay really pays off. So this is one of the few games where you just don’t need to play on your own, instead you will be helped by others and create a cohesive team! Teamplay is amazing here and at the same time this is one of the main reasons to come back to the game again and again.

The fact that they bring in new challenges and rewards to make you play more often, as you do feel rewarded and appreciated for being a player! I love the idea of so many game modes, because aside from team play, you do get a ton of cool versus modes, such as Storm, which is my personal favorite, but also plant the bomb and the normal free for all or TDM. It’s really nice to see a breath of fresh air in these games, and it’s just a breeze to play them.

As a character, you can add new items, weapons and other nice tools before you enter the game, and even the lobby system is nicely structured here. Crytek did a good job with the monetization system which is decent. Sure, you do need to pay some money in order to get the best stuff, but even if you don’t, you do have some fair chances in the end.

The classes here are quite good too, and a team does need to have at least a rifleman, sniper, medic and engineer, because without them everything will fall to pieces. The more the merrier, but don’t be put down by the standard weapons, the loadout is customizable.

Graphics and sounds

Since this is a game made by Crytek, a major focus is on the graphics which are very good. The game worlds are nice, the maps are very appealing from a visual standpoint and the title just manages to do a great job when it comes to providing you with unique character designs. Even the sounds are truly good as well, since the game does focus on realism. There is some music inside the game, mostly repetitive but still action packed and quite nice!

Conclusion

It might not seem like a revolutionary shooter, but Warface does have some strong points that do make it stand out in the genre. It’s very fast paced, and it’s free, but at the same time it brings nice graphics and it’s just a blast to play. If you love war based games, then this is indeed a game you do not want to miss at all!
