Dropsy (Video Game Review)

Devolver Digital has announced that Dropsy will release for PC via Steam on September 10th. BioGamer Girl went hands-on with the upcoming title early and we are excited to share our thoughts on this non-traditional point and click adventure. Read on to learn more.

The new release introduces gamers to the care-free clown Dropsy who takes us on an epic adventure through an imaginative land full of colorful and psychedelic animations. When booting up Dropsy, players view a small introduction animation that shows us the circus in which our clown protagonist exists and the fire that destroys everything he knows.

The world that Dropsy starts out in is the remains of the colorful world he once knew with fire now engulfing everything around him and ghosts of his former friends lingering about. Once Dropsy is pulled down into a new world--the colorful world he once known is back before him in full force. Now Dropsy the Clown finds himself on a new path of self-discovery where he must unearth dark secrets and enact moments of kindness in order to redeem himself.

Dropsy is an open world adventure where players can choose what they want to explore and piece the puzzles together as they see fit. In order for Dropsy the clown to change his luck, he must win the hearts of those around him which involves solving complex puzzles, dishing out hugs and talking to animals. The unique cast of characters in Dropsy really adds another level of entertainment to the title and keeps things fresh and entertaining.

Dropsy the Clown is a very sad, weird yet lovable soul that you just can't help but become fully immersed in while trying to figure out the complex nature that is Dropsy. The game is almost completely text-free and players must interrupt weird visual icons to proceed throughout the various levels and worlds. However, the entire adventure that is Dropsy, has been so cleverly executed that you can't help but become fully immersed into its psychedelic weirdness.

If you have been looking for a point and click adventure with out of the box ideas then you will want to download Dropsy when it releases. To learn more, visit the official Dropsy Steam page.

About Dropsy
After a deadly circus fire shatters his world and tarnishes his name, Dropsy the Clown finds himself on a journey of self-discovery through a story that harnesses powerful themes of love and unmerited kindness. With his father gravely ill and the world turning its back on the once celebrated clown, Dropsy will need to help those in need, hug total strangers, and unearth dark secrets on the winding road to redemption. Oh, and Dropsy can also talk to animals.

Dropsy is a non-traditional take on the classic point and click adventure formula starring the game's perpetually carefree namesake clown as he explores a richly detailed world full of colorful characters and sinister secrets, doling out hugs along the way. Rather than lead players on a singular narrative path, players are free to determine which avenues of adventure they want to explore in an open world setting and can piece the puzzles and story together however they choose.
