A Fistful of Gun (Video Game Review)

One of the best things about a co-op game is the fact that you get to play alongside your friends, but as you would expect some of the cooperative gameplay moments are better than others.  A Fistful of Gun is designed in order to offer a really fast, exciting gameplay all while showcasing a vile, fun and unique story that you have to explore in any way you see fit.

Gameplay and graphics

A Fistful of Gun has a great aesthetic, and this alone manages to offer an amazing value to be honest, yet at the same time the gameplay is even better than what the game looks. While the title starts off easily with the idea that you can explore the world and engage yourself into massive battles alongside your friends, it does have a great story to it.

You play the role of shootists which work hard in order to protect the land from a baron that signed a contract to the devil. The gameplay is action packed and since you have more than 11 gunslingers to choose from, you can rest assured that the experience is very fast paced and action packed, which is a major plus.

The controls are very good in this game, I played with the controllers as well as the keyboard and I found them both to be viable options for this type of game, which is really nice. The main focus is on cooperative gameplay, but you do have the ability to play in single-player mode, where you have quite a lot of content. You can also check out the arcade mode which offers a simpler version, a level based one of the main story, which is quite nice. However, the game does occasionally suffer from repetitiveness and a lack of consistency.

You can obtain gold, which in turn allows you to upgrade weapons. It’s nice to see how the entire set of gameplay mechanics is implemented in here, and at the end of the day the entire experience is just a whole lot of fun, with the title knowing when to push with many enemies or just keeping a few out there.

Bosses
Yes, they did implement some boss battles, all of which take place at the end of each act, during the story missions. They are a nice change of pace for sure when it comes to the entire experience, and to be honest they do bring in front quite a lot of exciting gameplay mechanics.

It’s safe to say that the replay value of A Fistful of Gun comes in collecting items and acquiring new skills, but the title does have quite a lot of content to keep you happy for a very long time. It might not be a long game, but you will replay it many times and still enjoy it, mainly because it’s so much fun to kill the bad guys. If you have even the slightest interest in playing action packed games that are retro inspired alongside your friends, then you will like A Fistful of Gun for sure, so just give it a shot, you might just discover that you love it despite its flaws!
