Transformers: Devastation (Video Game Review)

Activision has released Transformers: Devastation for PS3, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC. The new action game allows players to battle against Decepticon forces by stepping into the shoes of five Autobots. Ready to learn more? Read on.

In Transformers: Devastation players will fight as Optimus Prime and the other Autobots to bring down the Decepticons and Megatron before they can destroy all organic life and turn the planet to metal. PlatinumGames delivers a nostalgic experience with the new release allowing gamers to master a unique combat system while enjoying voice acting from the original TV series.

Transformers: Devastation
is a game like none other in the Transformers series, because it manages to deliver innovative gameplay alongside action-packed brawler fun for an over-the-top experience. If you were a fan of the Transformers TV show in the eighties then you will find a lot to love about Transformers: Devastation. The title has comic-book style visuals, rocking good music, alongside great voice acting to create a presentation style that is perfectly reminiscent of a decades old classic.

While Transformers: Devastation does everything it possibly can to have a great overall presentation--the title gets relatively stale as you progress further into the story. The levels start to feel very repetitive and almost like a copy and paste of previous ones in the game. The map designs in the new game might not be as impressive as they could be, but the overall combat manages to stay engaging throughout the entire game, which helps stammer some of the repetitiveness.

Transformers: Devastation contains about five to seven hours of gameplay during the main campaign which can be stretched out even more by its deep customization system and five difficulty levels. Also, the ability to play five different Autobots (Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Grimlock, Sideswipe, and Wheeljack) allows gamers to fully immerse themselves into the title by experiencing the unique abilities and fighting styles of each character.

In the end, Transformers: Devastation is a fun new game that offers up a decent amount of innovative gameplay and action-packed combat to overcome the small issues of repetitiveness that the title suffers from. If you are looking to relive classic Transformers moments then look no further then Transformers: Devastation. Transformers: Devastation is available now in North America for MSRP $49.99 on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 computer entertainment systems, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and Windows PC via Steam. It is rated T (Teen) by the ESRB.
