From the Press Release
Wargaming today announced WG Cells, a new publishing and development division that will focus exclusively on mobile titles. It will be strategically led by Wargaming management team veteran Marat Karpeko and operationally headed by industry veteran David Bluhm, previously CEO of DropForge Games.
The mobile success of World of Tanks Blitz, a title with over 35 million downloads, served as the catalyst that spawned WG Cells. The game provided Wargaming with invaluable insights and experience in the mobile gaming business, title development and publishing. To further leverage Wargaming’s unique resources and expertise, WG Cells includes development studios in Seattle and Kyiv, and will be gradually expanding its presence in key regional mobile markets to fully capitalize on the rapid and unprecedented growth of the mobile gaming sector.
“Wargaming is committed to developing a strong mobile gaming business as one of our major pillars of our corporate strategy,” said Victor Kislyi, CEO of Wargaming. “We understand that the mobile market is massive and has even greater potential. WG Cells allows us to take advantage of this market, provide great games and expand our product scope.”
“It’s very exciting to bring the full force of Wargaming’s brand, expertise, know-how, and resources to the fast growing mobile games market,” said David Bluhm, Head of WG Cells U.S. “Wargaming has already created world-class games for every major gaming medium, and WG Cells will help further bolster the company’s mobile offerings with some outstanding titles.”
