Beatbuddy: On Tour (Video Game Review)

Beatbuddy: On Tour is an arcade title with a single premise, which is to deliver you the ultimate control over your very own disk jockey. The conductor is Beatbuddy and all you have to do is to make sure that you control the hand then hover over the stars or instruments that appear in order to create the beat and obtain the highest possible score. Ready to start? Let‘s go!

It might sound simple in theory, but the reality is that this can become quite tough, and the more you try to complete this the harder it will get. Each of the instruments or stars have a ring near them and each one has 3 colors. You will need to hover over that and wait until the inner white ring finishes its circle and the outer ring is still on the green--as that is when it will obtain the highest amount of points. I found this mechanic quite hard to understand and definitely complicated, but the reality is that it does deliver a lot of value to the overall gameplay.

Instruments have a different speed each time so while some of them are very fast, others are less speedy leading to an interesting outcome each time requiring you to constantly adjust each instrument. There are situations in which jewels can drop down the screen adding to the challenge which makes the experience even more enjoyable and addictive.

There are some issues you have to be aware of, such as the fact that the red stars should not be touched, since they will make you lose one of your lives and are best to be avoided if all possible. While the game has only 36 levels, these can be fairly complicated, requiring a lot of attention to detail. Combine that with the fact that each time you play you will need to adjust to each instrument, and you will see how the game manages to constantly succeed in providing new and unique challenges to keep players interested.

Beatbuddy: On Tour has the player starting out on normal with the ability to unlock the hard as well as super hard difficulties. These are, just as the name suggests, staggeringly difficult but you do get to experience an entirely new level of fun and are worth a shot if you like to experience challenging new levels and puzzles.

The soundtrack is the best part of the game and is amazingly delightful with each musical piece adding more immersion to the gameplay. There are a few issues here and there that can cause the game to seem repetitive with some parts being too difficult at times . Even with this said, Beatbuddy: On Tour can still deliver some fun moments despite its setbacks. If you liked Beatbuddy then I would recommend playing the new title in small doses, as this is how you can make the most out of it! To learn more, visit the official Beatbuddy: On Tour Steam page.
