Exclusive Interview: Lorynn York Discusses Lifetime's The Carpenter's Daughter

At the end of the month, Lorynn York gets her bully on in Lifetime’s The Carpenter’s Daughter. We got the 411 on the movie from the screen siren herself. Read on to check out our short but sweet interview to learn more.

AMANDA DYAR: Are you doing what you’ve always wanted to?

LORYNN YORK: Yes. I have always been a performer. I started with ballet and it lead me into acting.

AMANDA: How hard was it to get into acting though?

LORYNN: It was rough at the start learning to navigate around the business side of things.

AMANDA: Were there a lot of rejections along the way?

LORYNN: Yes. That will never stop. I always have to tell myself that even Oscar winners still get rejected for projects they really want.

AMANDA: Is there one role you really wanted in particular that you didn’t get?

LORYNN: I auditioned for The Gambler and got pretty far in the casting process. It was an amazing script and I'd work alongside Mark Wahlberg. I would have done the movie for free.

AMANDA: How did you get the role in Lifetime’s The Carpenter’s Daughter? Was it an audition?

LORYNN: Yes! It was an audition. I read for the lead as well as my role.

AMANDA: Did it involve doing a chemistry test with anyone?

LORYNN: Nope! I just auditioned once. I went straight to set the next week.

AMANDA: How much like your character are you?

LORYNN: The Opposite. You shall see.

AMANDA: They say TV is where it’s at these days – do you agree?

LORYNN: I one hundred percent agree. Things move a lot faster with TV movies. I have done five TV movies in eighteen months! Pretty cool.
