Good Girls (Book Review)

Good Girls by Glen Hirshberg released on February 23, 2016 taking readers on an horrific journey of revenge and bloodlust. Are you ready to venture down this dark path of destruction? Read on.

Good Girls is the follow-up story to Hirshberg's Motherless Child and takes readers further into the dark abyss with every flip of the page. Motherless Child introduced single mothers, Sophie and Natalie, to a dark road of destruction far from their trailer park in North Carolina. After meeting their mysterious idol the Whistler, they wake up covered in dried blood and hazy to only discover that they are his latest victims. The duo leave their children behind once they realize they are now vampires and head out on the open road trying not to give into their carnal desires.

Good Girls is a stand alone story that follows one of the Whistler's victims Jess as she escapes his grip and tries to piece together a new life with what is left behind. The reader soon becomes engulfed into a twisted plot of revenge that is truly horrific to its core.

The best part of Good Girls being a stand alone story is that it can be enjoyed without reading Motherless Child beforehand. The characters are extremely well-developed and readers will find themselves slowly caring for each one in a different way. Readers will experience a wide-array of emotions while making their way through Good Girls as you get to see true friendship, loss, horror and love through the eyes of Hirshberg's compelling characters.

In the end, I greatly enjoyed Good Girls and would recommend it to any die-hard horror fan. The book is an extrinsically crafted tale of horror and love that meshes together to create a masterful tale of true suspense.
