Street Fighter V: Alex (DLC Review)
Capcom's Street Fighter V recently released to mostly positive reviews and was regarded as one of the best additions to the series due to its action-packed gameplay. We recently went hands-on with Street Fighter V's first DLC release with the new character Alex. Read on to learn what we thought.
Gamers who prefer to get all of the upcoming characters can do so in Street Fighter V by purchasing the Season Pass that will grant access to all of the 2016 characters: Alex, Guile, Ibuki, Balrog, Juri, and Urien, each with a premium costume. Capcom had announced prior to the launch of Street Fighter V that they would release a steady stream of new characters, modes and other enhancements throughout the year with the first new character (Alex) being officially released on March 30th.
There was a ton of other updates released in March for Street Fighter V that included demonstrations and trials in challenge mode, new content in the in-game shop, and improvements to the battle lounge.
There are a couple of options for getting new characters that includes grinding it out to earn in-game money to purchase them or to get them using real money in the form of the season pass. Capcom made the character Alex free for a limited time giving players the opportunity to see if they would like to purchase him for themselves. Alex comes with his own unique storyline that involves three epic battles against Birdie, Chun-Li and Ryu. The character story is frankly very short but otherwise very immersive and fun. Alex's story involves being kidnapped by F.A.N.G and battling alternative versions of characters within the training stage.
There are also two costumes for Alex that entails one that is very similar to what he wore in Street Fighter 3 and the other is more casual with just a white shirt, athletic pants and ball cap. Alex has some very fun moves that are almost a mix of over the top wrestling with that of street brawling giving him an almost balanced playstyle for beginners. Taking down your opponents have never been easier than it is with Alex's special moves that includes Flash Shop, Slash Elbow, Air Knee Smash, Air Stampede, Head Crush, Cross Chop, Leg Tomahawk, Rage Shift and Power Bomb.
In the end, the Alex DLC for Street Fighter V is a welcome addition to the game and well worth picking up. Rather you choose to use Fight Money or Zenny to pick up Alex, you will likely be happy with the content that you receive. To learn more, visit the official Street Fighter V website.
