SDKBOX and Google Collaborate To Allow Developers Easier Access To Google Play Game Services

SDKBOX has collaborated with Google to support Google Play Games Services for Cocos2d-x developers.

At the annual Casual Connect conference held in downtown San Francisco, live game operations platform SDKBOX announced a collaboration with Google to support Google Play Games Services for Cocos2d-x developers. Cocos2d-x is one of the largest players in the mobile game engine space with hundreds of top grossing titles worldwide and a developer community of over 700,000 registered users. This fully supported commercial integration, SDKBOX will enable developers to easily access and leverage the full suite of Google Play Game Services offering key player engagement features, including Achievements, Leaderboards, Multiplayer, and Events. Alongside the Google Play Service integration, SDKBOX also announced support for new services from Apteligent and OneSignal.

Kai Zhao, Head of Operations for SDKBOX, said: “Our Mission is to ‘Cure SDK Fatigue.’ As we expand the breadth of features available for developers to engage and retain their players, Google Play's Game Services SDK was a natural fit for our platform. We look forward to working closely with the Google Play team to ensure the integration is seamless for our fast-growing, global community of over 700,000 Cocos2d-x developers.”

The addition of the new Google Play Game Services SDK benefits game developers by introducing critical features that keep players engaged and returning, as well as tools for better tracking player activity. Cocos2d-x developers can enable a variety of features through the SDKBOX Framework including Authorization, Achievements, Leaderboards, Turn-based multiplayer, Real-time multiplayer, Events and Quests, Saved Games, Nearby Connections (Android only) and Player Statistics.

Since launching in 2015, the SDKBOX integration framework has grown to support over 2500 live daily applications with a combined 60 million device installs, 22 million monthly active unique users (MAU) and 4 million daily active unique users (DAU). Hit titles including Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, Marvel Tsum Tsum and Ketchapp Basketball now rely on SDKBOX for their live operations support.

SDKBOX’s most recent update also added support for game intelligence services and push notifications from Apteligent and OneSignal. Apteligent (formerly Crittercisim,) best know for its industry leading service for live crash reporting, has recently expanded its service to include mobile app insights features.

Andrew Levy, Co-Founder and Chief Strategy Officer of Apteligent, said: “We are pleased that SDKBOX is leveraging our services for developers in their latest platform expansion. We've especially geared our SDK towards providing a very robust set of app performance and customer experience features. We look forward to seeing how Cocos2d-x developers leverage the new service available to them through SDKBOX.”
