Bandai Namco has released Dark Souls III: Ashes of Ariandel for PS4.
The first DLC for Dark Souls III is Ashes of Ariandel which released on October 25th for $14.99. However, if you have the season pass on PSN for $24.99, then you can also receive the downloadable content through that.
When Ashes of Ariandel first released, gamers had a few server issues, but that is now resolved and the content plays beautifully. The DLC offers a ton of new content including a new location (Painted World of Ariandel), sixteen new weapons & shields, five armor sets, four spells and one new ring (Chillbite Ring). If you want more replayability, then you will definitely find that with the new PvP map Hollow Arena, the two added bosses, Captain's Ashes and Millwood Greatarrow. Once you get the new heavy armor Captain‘s Ashes then you unlock the ammunition Millwood Greatarrow.
When you venture into Ashes of Ariandel, you will head into the snowy Painted World of Ariandel, which has a ton of new items and weapons but is extremely difficult. Gamers can access the Ashes of Ariandel DLC by visiting the Cleansing Church bonfire which is near the Cathedral of the Deep. A NPC will be there who can transport you to the new location where you can start your quest.
The new location is full of beautiful scenery and mountainous ridges to explore that have new shortcuts, bonfires and gear. Players take on brand-new enemies like knights, wolves and more as they try to make their way through the snowy ridges. The content gives you around 6-7 hours of fresh gameplay, depending on your playstyle, and after beating the mandatory first boss you will unlock the Arena. This new PvP section with two new game modes, Duel and Brawls.
In the end, there is a lot of content to try out for hardened players who have completed the main game or did multiple playthroughs. Dark Souls III: Ashes of Ariandel has some very hardcore gameplay, and the addition of the Arena adds a lot of replayability to the game. While the gameplay was pretty hard, I found the new DLC to be quite enjoyable. To learn more, visit the official Dark Souls III website.
