Overwatch Winter Premiere Announced With $100,000 Prize Pool

NGE announces the Overwatch Winter Premiere with $100,000 prize pool.

Next Generation Esports (NGE) today announced the Overwatch® Winter Premiere, a multi-month tournament featuring Blizzard Entertainment’s blockbuster new team-based shooter, Overwatch.

Starting in December, players will be able to participate in the Overwatch Winter Premiere, which is open to all North American Overwatch teams and competitors who register online beforehand. The tournament will begin with 4 days of online qualifiers, after which the top 8 teams—vying for a share of the $100,000 prize pool—will face off in 3 weeks of Double Round-Robin group play, followed by a 2-day live finals event in January 2017.

Next Generation Esports will work with Blizzard Entertainment to fully produce, direct, and broadcast the Overwatch Winter Premiere. All online qualifier broadcasts and group play will be streamed directly from NGE studios in Burbank, CA.

“NGE’s philosophy is to find the most ambitious esports partners and work with them to elevate their shows,” said Andy Vander Woude, CEO and co-founder, Next Generation Esports. “That’s why we’re thrilled to work with Blizzard to create an esports experience perfectly matched to Overwatch fans.”

Open qualifiers begin December 10. The Overwatch Winter Premiere will be broadcast on nge.io/winterpremiere. For additional broadcast and sign up information, visit the Overwatch Winter Premiere site at www.winterpremiere.com.
