Tumblestone (Video Game Review)

The Quantum Astrophysicists Guild has released Tumblestone for PS4.

Tumblestone is a competitive multiplayer game that manages to give the Match-3 genre an entirely new spin with its challenging puzzle solving experiences. The game involves the cross-buy feature that allows you to purchase the title and then play it across all of the Sony consoles like PS4, PS3 and PS Vita.

The main story campaign in Tumblestone offers gamers around 30+ hours of gameplay with hundreds of unique challenges to complete. If you would like to play with friends, Tumblestone allows up to four players on local multiplayer with the ability to play competitively online in three modes: Puzzle Race, Battle, and Tug of War. Even if you don't have anyone to play against, you can still enjoy the experience by allowing a few bots to fill the open slots in your game.

Tumblestone is very easy to pick up and play involving matching three of the same colored blocks to slowly get rid of all the blocks on the screen. However, you are not allowed to change or swap out any of the positions of the current blocks. The game gets more challenging as you progress through the various worlds and solve over 300+ puzzles. The upbeat soundtrack and colorful graphics really adds to the overall presentation and immersion of Tumblestone.

As you progress, the game seems to get so difficult that the ability to skip some levels becomes a necessity. You are able to earn tokens that allow you to skip really hard levels as the game goes on. By completing worlds, players will open up access to the modifier list. There are several modifiers that can add more immersion and replayability to your game such as Shot Blockers, Column Flip, Color Lock, Row Shift and more.

If you are interested in climbing the leaderboards, then you can jump into the arcade mode to play and improve your ranking on the global leaderboard. Some of the games you can play in arcade mode includes Heartbeat, Marathon and Infinipuzzle. Heartbeat adds more blocks overtime, Marathon adds blocks when players remove a block above the glass and Infinipuzzle gives players an infinite amount of small puzzles to solve.

In the end, Tumblestone is an addicting competitive puzzle solving experience that gives gamers plenty of content to keep them coming back. If you have been looking for a game to kill some time this holiday season, then look no further then Tumblestone.
