tinyBuild has released Divide by Sheep for PC and mobile devices for the low price of $0.99.
A Few Words From The Team:
I remember last year when working with Victor -- Divide By Sheep's designer -- we had a discussion about how to make a math puzzle game fun. We had really cute artwork and the concept of saving sheep from a flood. So you'd solve math puzzles, get sheep to rafts and progress through a series of puzzles.
At one point I asked Victor -- "what if you divide one in half?"
He replied with "you get two halves.... of a sheep"
That's when we got the idea for Divide By Sheep's dark comedy tone. Instead of saving sheep, we figured it'd be more fun if you play from the perspective of a lonely Grim Reaper who can befriend only the dead. So he floods the world, and tries to kill off as many critters as possible to make them his friends. This totally worked.
You get to fling sheep through lasers, feed them to wolves, drown them -- all while solving complex math puzzles. This is what makes Divide By Sheep so brilliant by design. You don't know you're doing math.
