Eendhoorn Games has released SpiritSphere for the PC.
SpiritSphere is a local multiplayer game with graphics and concepts similar to those found in early games like Zelda and Windjammers. The unique concept of SpiritSphere captures the essence of classic games while delivering the gameplay of early air hockey games typically found at the arcade.
The game contains local multiplayer that allows you to team of with a group of like-minded friends (2-4 players) for some epic one-versus-one battles. However, if you don't have anyone who shares your passion for games like this locally than you can still test your skills against the AI in single player mode.
The thing that drew me to SpiritSphere outside its classic roots was the person behind the game, Martino Wullems. The developer had suffered from health problems that would have impacted most game designers ability and motivation to continue, but he somehow managed to persevere. It is that kind of passion and dedication that is often evident throughout the entire game from the storyline to the animations.
SpiritSphere combines elements of a top-down RPG where you venture through generated dungeon rooms that increase with difficulty with that of air-hockey. The game features a variety of characters, stages and items to keep the game feeling unique all the way through alongside easy to play mechanics making it simple to pick up and play.
In the end, SpiritSphere is a simple RPG game that adds in unique air-hockey gameplay mechanics for a fun twist. To learn more, visit the official SpiritSphere website.
