HypeTrain Digital releases their new survival game The Wild Eight.
The Wild Eight is set in the cold and unforgiving environments of Alaska where you must survive a world packed full of danger and mystery. Players are tasked with surviving by hunting and crafting the supplies they need to live with either friends or random players you find online.
The game is a Kickstarter funded title that was backed by a slew of supporters who felt like this game had what it took to be a full fledge PC game. There is a ton to do in The Wild Eight and this will continue to expand over the weeks to come.
The main objective in The Wild Eight is exploration and the better you get at that than the better chances you have at survival. You are tasked with finding out the mystery behind the plane crash and all of your answers are hidden throughout the snowy region in the form of side quests. Gamers will explore a wide array of areas that include condemned buildings, weird laboratories and even some out of this world locations.
While exploration is a big part of The Wild Eight, you have to cooperate with other players to complete some of the toughest challenges that Alaska has to offer. Surviving isn't just not getting killed by the dangerous obstacles in your path, but forming relationships with others, on top of keeping yourself warm and fed. Players are tasked with creating campfires to keep warm from the below freezing temperatures on top of finding new sources of nourishment in order to venture on.
In order to find food and warm shelter then you have to craft the tools you need for survival. Some of the items you can craft include clothing, weapons and tools for gathering. As you progress, you will have the ability to change up your gameplay by upgrading your survival skills in your shelter to have an extra edge in surviving Alaska.
In the end, The Wild Eight is a good game that manages to test your patience and your skills inside a barren wasteland. You will choose rather to run from the ferocious beasts you encounter or face them head-on. However, you have to watch your back because there are even scarier things in the night than wild animals and freezing temperatures. The controls in The Wild Eight aren't as responsive as they could be and aspects of the game can get repetitive but the game still managed to be fun overall.
