WRC 6 Review (PlayStation 4)

Bandai Namco has released WRC 6 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

WRC 6 was developed by Kylotonn Racing Games and offers gamers an extreme motorsport challenge like never before in the genre. WRC 6 has a complete rally experience that manages to accurately reproduce key components such as tracks, teams, and drivers from the official World Rally Championship.

WRC 6 is a game that tries to appeal to a broader audience than other titles out there, and it manages to do this with its tight controls and spectacular physics. Some players had some issues with WRC 5 that have now been fixed with the new release. The developers have managed to add more realism to the series alongside improved visuals and driving mechanics. The improvements in the development cycle have managed to create a solid and better gameplay experience that takes WRC 6 to all new levels of fun.

A new component in WRC 6 is also the 11 new Super Special Stages that include completely accurate stages based on real life locations around the world. These new stages add a more realistic approach when you play with your friends online and increases the level of immersion of the series. There is also the ability to participate in weekly challenges and the eSports WRC Championship in WRC 6 adding a great deal of replayability to the title.

One of the things we liked most about WRC 6 is the fact that is it very welcoming to newcomers to the series with its pick up and play mechanics. The game goes out of its way to make sure players understand the basics and even gives you a survey that recommends which difficulty level would be best for you. No one likes a game that is incredibly difficult to pick up and learn, and WRC 6 goes out of its way to make sure that isn’t the case.

WRC 6 gives players the ability to set back and enjoy over 14 countries at a high-speed velocity with animation effects that are truly superb. However, one downfall of WRC 6 is that there just aren’t enough cars to choose from, and we would have loved to seen a wider variety of vehicles to jump into. While the game environments saw an improvement in realism, the soundtrack just wasn’t up to par with the visuals. I would have loved it if the sounds had been taken just one step further and gave you the raw engine sounds you expect from your rally car.

In the end, WRC 6 is a fun racing game that went above and beyond this time when it came to realism and the simulation handling was spot on. WRC 6 is a blast when played in multiplayer mode and there is a ton of content to keep you coming back. Despite the few issues we had with WRC 6, it turned out to be one of the more fun titles we have picked up in the racing genre.

WRC 6 is now available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC via Steam. To learn more about WRC 6, visit the official Bandai Namco Entertainment website.
