The CWL Global Pro League Stage Two Playoffs have kicked off in Ohio at the MLG Arena.
The competitive action of the Call of Duty World League (CWL), Presented by PlayStation®4, kicks into high gear today with the CWL Global Pro League Stage Two Playoffs at the MLG Arena in Columbus, Ohio. Throughout the weekend, the high-stakes competition will pit the world’s best teams from North America and Europe against each other for their share of the $500,000 event prize pool, with the Grand Finals taking place on Sunday, July 30. The competition this weekend takes on an added level of urgency as Stage 2 placements will help determine final rankings for the year’s premiere Call of Duty competitive event, the CWL Championship this August.
The CWL Global Pro League Stage Two Playoffs features the eight best teams in Call of Duty vying for top spot, including Stage 1 Playoff winner Spyce and CWL Anaheim Open Winner Luminosity, alongside eUnited, FaZe Clan, Fnatic, Team EnVyUs, Enigma6, and OpTic Gaming.
The season draws to a close, culminating with the 2017 CWL Championship, August 11 -13, in Orlando, where teams will compete for their share of a final $1.5 million prize pool, as part of the overall $4 million prize pool for the 2017 CWL season – the largest in Call of Duty esports history.
Success at the CWL Global Pro League Stage 2 Playoffs is a crucial step for Orlando hopefuls, as seeding at the 2017 CWL Championship will be determined by placement at this weekend’s Stage 2 Playoffs. On Thursday, the North American Last Chance Qualifier saw eight teams secure a chance to compete in the 32-team, season-end Championship event set for August 9-13 at the Amway Center in Orlando, FL.
The eight qualifying teams from the North American Last Chance Qualifier are:
- 3sUP
- Allegiance
- Echo Fox
- Lethal Gaming
- Projekt Evil
- Rogue
- Str8 Rippin
- Team Kaliber
