Orcs Must Die! Unchained Review (PS4)

Robot Entertainment has finally released Orcs Must Die! Unchained for PS4.

BioGamer Girl flew out to the Robot Entertainment not long back to try out Orcs Must Die! Unchained on PC. The developers told press that a the game would be coming to consoles but didn't have an exact launch time during the PC release. Now, the game has finally made it to PS4 and here is our thoughts on it!

Orcs Must Die! Unchained (read PC review here) has the same elements and gameplay that was enjoyed on PC but with some added new features for PS4 compatibility. Orcs Must Die! Unchained is an action-packed tower defense game full of ogres that you can smash from the comfort of your very own couch. The game has made its way to the PlayStation Store for free and developers have promised a slew of new content, updates and game modes.

The main objective in Orcs Must Die! Unchained is to protect your Rift from hordes of invading enemies with your three-player team. In order to prevent enemies from entering the Rift, you must strategically place traps around the map to stop them. However, the various enemies have different vulnerabilities and the stakes get higher the more you progress throughout the game. Orcs Must Die! Unchained is packed full of corny humor with lovable characters, entertaining combat and intrinsic puzzles.

PlayStation Plus members will actually receive an exclusive package of in-game currency, items, skins, and more (valued at more than $20) when then install the game before August 17th. Orcs Must Die! Unchained has several game modes to enjoy such as Survival, Endless and Sabotage. There are also weekly challenges to keep players coming back for more allowing the game to continuously be fresh and entertaining.

While the game is free, players do have the choice to purchase add-on bundles and gold packs. These add-ons allow gamers to speed up their progress by being able to unlock more content and purchase better items and traps to defeat the evil at hand. Since the game is free, I think the gold packs that range from $4.99-$99 are a real help being they allow you to enjoy a lot more stuff right off the bat. But if you enjoy the thrill of slaying away to unlock everything, then you can certainly do that for free but it might take you a bit.

Orcs Must Die! Unchained looks beautiful on PS4 but the gameplay doesn't seem quite as polished as it did on the PC version. However, this is probably due to the game being newly released on console and the developers are still working out a few kinks here and there. The controls also aren't as tight as they are on PC, but this is probably due to the fact that games like Orcs Must Die! Unchained are usually best played on the PC.

All-in-all, Orcs Must Die! Unchained is an enjoyable game on PS4 full of action-packed fun, bloody combat and hilarious fun. If you would like to learn more, visit the official Orcs Must Die! Unchained website.

Jackson County Fair in Scottsboro, Alabama (Event Review)

The Jackson County Fair has invaded Scottsboro, Alabama for the week of October 7-11, 2014, but the event may be a waste of money for some.  The fair was the 79th annual showing and was presented by Kissel Entertainment. The event featured rides, exhibits, games and great (yet too expensive) food for attendees at the show. Families could have enjoyed a great time at the fair grounds, but the event wasn't cheap and it didn't feature some of the more prominent attractions like one would find at larger, state fairs and carnivals. The turn out very low in Scottsboro though, and many would think that this would make it easier to enjoy the event but not even small lines could help make the Jackson County event fun. The Jackson County Fair had over a dozen rides for all age groups. The fair's massive Ferris Wheel towered high in the sky and helped light up the event, while the Moby Dick ride and Gravitron also looked fearsome and stood tall even from a distance. Plenty of ...
