Scarefest's 10 Year Anniversary Show (Event Report)

Scarefest celebrated ten years in downtown Lexington, KY from September 29th - October 1st.

The idea for BioGamer Girl started almost ten years ago at my first horror convention -- Scarefest. I had just recovered from having a stroke and decided it was time to leave my current career in mental health. At the event, I met a lot of people who have remained close friends for the past decade which included John Russo (writer of Night of the Living Dead). As I tried to figure out what I wanted to do next in life, John told me stories about his own ventures and the magazine he once started himself. I decided at that moment I wanted to start my own horror and gaming magazine and later BioGamer Girl was born.

I attended the ten year anniversary show of Scarefest, and it brought back a lot of fond memories from my first event. There were over 40 guests on hand at the event, and I was able to meet Danny Trejo again and get a signed Machete. I also attended the Black Carpet event, VIP party and costume ball--all of which were a blast. You can learn more about some of the events that took place at Scarefest here.

On the way to Scarefest, BioGamer Girl visited Cave City, KY where we visited Jellystone Park and Dinosaur World. We also visited Bowling Green, KY and took a trip inside the Lost River cave which was a blast. All-in-all, the trip to Scarefest 2017 was a memorable and enjoyable adventure and we hope to one day return to the event and once again celebrate ten more years!
