Steven Universe: Save the Light Releasing October 31

Cartoon Network releases new details for Steven Universe: Save the Light.

Cartoon Network has released a first look at a new character in the world of Steven Universe. Developed and written in collaboration with creator Rebecca Sugar, Hessonite – an original and mysterious Homeworld Gem new to the lore – first appears in the upcoming console game Steven Universe: Save the Light, a RPG set in the world of the beloved series.

A pompous Homeworld commander, Hessonite directs the previously showcased Squaridot and has come to Earth to turn the Prism back into a powerful weapon after taking it from Steven. She is voiced in the game by Emmy and Tony Award-winning actress, Christine Baranski.

Save the Light is a sequel to the hit mobile RPG Attack the Light with an original storyline crafted with Rebecca Sugar and developed by Grumpyface Studios. Discover fresh and familiar characters and enemies while exploring a vast variety of 3D environments from the series – including Beach City, Strawberry Battlefields, the Great North and beyond.

Assemble a party of unique playable heroes – including newcomers Connie, Peridot and Greg Universe – and level them up over time with new abilities and craftable gear. Face off against foes and bosses in thrilling battles mixing real-time and turn-based elements. There’s also an expanded relationship system that lets you encourage party members in and out of combat to unlock powerful team attacks and character-combining fusions like Stevonnie (Steven and Connie), Opal (Amethyst and Pearl), Sardonyx (Garnet and Pearl), Smokey Quartz (Steven and Amethyst) and Sugilite (Garnet and Amethyst).

Save the Light will launch on Oct. 31 for the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system in North America and Latin America* and Nov. 3 on Xbox One globally. It is available to preorder now on Xbox One through the Xbox Games Store for $24.99.

*Release date on PlayStation®4 outside of North America and Latin America will be announced soon.
