Super Mega Baseball (Video Game Review)

Super Mega Baseball is a new arcade baseball simulator from developer Metalhead Software. The game provides a lighter look at the sport with simple controls and addictive gameplay. The game is easy for any sports fan to pick up and play despite their level of expertise in the genre. There are two ways to play in the game, but the lack of any online multiplayer definitely limits the amount of fun players can have with the title. Super Mega Baseball has enough content to make it worth the $19.99 price tag, but players need to have some friends to play with locally to truly enjoy this new indie game. Super Mega Baseball is an arcade baseball title in the same model of the Hot Shots! golf series. The game does not try to be a true baseball simulator, and the lack of any ties to Major League Baseball allows the game to utilize all sorts of unique ideas not typically seen in the sports genre. The game features plenty of colorful characters and mascots without being overly cheesy in i...

Funk of Titans (Video Game Review)

A game comes along every now and then that is so terrible a person would wonder why anyone would play it. Funk of Titans is an endless runner from developer A Crowd of Monsters that fits that same description. The game is short, offers no challenge beyond what trouble arises from poor design and is simply a game that makes no sense. There haven't been many Xbox exclusives released recently, and we can't help but wonder why Microsoft decided Funk of Titans should be added to the short list of console exclusive titles available for their platform. The storyline featured in Funk of Titans follows Perseus, son of Zeus, that is tasked by the powerful Greek god to keep Funk music as the best in the world. Perseus will battle with other mythological foes that fall in the music genres of Pop, Rap and Rock to keep the Funk alive. The narrative makes little sense throughout the entire length of the brief campaign, and the developer's attempts at humor in the game are painful t...

Grim Fandango Remastered (Video Game Review)

Double Fine Productions and video game developer Tim Schafer have teamed up for the release of Grim Fandango Remastered . The new release improves on the Schafer classic that originally released for PC back in 1998. Grim Fandango Remastered could not have released at a better time, as dialogue heavy, adventure games have become very popular with recent Telltale Games releases and several successful re-releases from the same genre. Grim Fandango Remastered still has some of the same problems as the original, but most any gamer that enjoyed the original or have a good time while playing Telltale Games titles can download the new release and thoroughly its roughly 12-hour campaign. Grim Fandango Remastered follows an undead detective named Manny Calavera, who helps escort souls to the afterlife to pay off a debt owed to omnipotent powers that be. The game covers four years of content with different settings to correspond with each period in the timeline. The game is full of interes...

Dying Light (Video Game Review)

Dying Light is a new franchise from Techland. The new release holds many strong resemblances to Techland's other major franchise, Dead Island , though Dying Light seems to purposely take itself much more serious in both gameplay and narrative. This results in less comic book style fights and gives players more reasons to fear waves of enemies and night time exploration. On the other hand, the dark toned storyline falls laughably flat early on and makes sitting through cutscenes more a chore than a pleasurable experience. Dying Light is still a fun game to play, but it definitely has some issues. The storyline of Dying Light centers around Kyle Crane who is sent into the zombie infested city of Harran. The protagonist manages to infiltrate the city and clash with the dangerous leader of the country with a plot that feels similar to recent Far Cry releases with more zombies and much less memorable characters. Despite featuring voice acting from the likes of Nolan North, Troy...
